I was riding my bike on Bradford Street yesterday when I saw a few scratch tickets on the side of the road. I used to always check tickets that I found just to be sure they were not winners. After years of not finding any winners, I stopped picking them up off the ground. Yesterday, because there were five in one spot, I decided to stop my bike, go back, and check these tickets. I couldn't believe it when I realized they hadn't been scratched yet. At first I thought it was some kind of joke, so I looked around, grabbed the tickets and got out of there quick. When I got to my destination, I scratched all five tickets and NOT one winner. That's just my luck!Friday, July 09, 2010
Just my luck

It's like Times Square
The Provincetown Gym has resembled the picture above lately. It's circuit week here in Provincetown so all of the muscle boys are crowding up my gym. Yesterday, I went at 12:30 pm thinking they would be done and at the beach, but when I got there, it was so crowded. There were no pieces of equipment or free weights to use, but I did find an empty eliptical machine so I did that for a half hour. Once I was finished with that, many had left so I was able to get in a short chest workout. Jeff and I went today at about the same time and it was much less crowded, still more than usual though.Next week is bear week so the gym will be back to normal. :)
I'm off to work in a few minutes..... here's to a busy night at the Porch Bar!

All by myself........
Yesterday I spent the day pretty much doing my own things here in Provincetown. When I got up, I went to the gym and worked on chest and triceps. After having a nice lunch, I headed downtown to watch the Blessing of the Fleet from MacMillan Pier. As you can see from the video, there were Portuguese dancers at the end of the pier. They were great!
Later on, I went bike riding out on the National Seashore trails. I have this lovely speedometer on my bike that tracks the number of miles, average miles per hour, time, and temperature. What I like most about it is that when you are not moving, the time stops. It starts up again when you begin biking. So, I know exactly how much time is spent riding rather than resting.
When I got home, I spent the rest of the night relaxing on the couch. I'm getting very little sleep on Friday and Saturday nights since I'm bartending at the Gifford House. When I get home on those nights, I have a hard time falling asleep yet I'm up by 8 am. By Sunday, I'm quite exhausted.
Call me Artie the one man party, but all in all, I had a great time yesterday all by myself.

Meet Reggie
Reggie travels very well. He flew with us on the airplane from Fort Lauderdale to Boston. He did not make one sound from the time we put him in the carrier at 5 am in Fort Lauderdale until we got to Jeff's parents in Lexington, MA at about 11 am. I thought for sure he would freak out during takeoff, but he didn't. He was so calm. Come to think of it, he hardly every meows.
Well... time to go. I need to get my outdoor exercise done before the thunderstorms move in.

Time to dust off these old things
I went rollerblading today for the first time in many, many years. And I seemed to be the only one. I can remember loads of people rollerblading on Commercial Street in Provincetown during the 90s..... but today, not so much. I actually got strange looks from some. Oh well.... I had a good time. There are actually two pairs of blades at my house. Rollerblades were one of the first presents I ever bought Jeff back in 1999. At the time, I thought we would go rollerblading together. I think he has used them twice in all of these years.... so today, I used his pair since they are like new.
I went up and down the whole length of Commercial Street a couple of times and then out to Herring Cove Beach and back for a total of 1 hour, 15 minutes. Add that to the hour in the gym this morning, and I had a good day of exercise.
There has been a lot of talk in Provincetown about repaving Commercial Street. Well let me tell you, it needs to be done like yesterday. When you're on Rollerblades, you feel every hole and bump much more than in a car or on a bike. I guess that when they put in the sewer system, they ran out of money to repave the streets. The town is looking into federal stimulus money for this project. Let's hope they repave soon!

First day of the exercise contest

Anyway, today was so beautiful. Besides the exercise, I spent a couple of hours at the Provincetown Inn pool with Jeff. This evening, we took a trip to Orleans and had dinner at Cooke's Seafood. I had fried fish which I almost never have. It was a nice treat.
Tomorrow, I will hit the gym again and probably do some rollerblading later on. Depending on the weather, I will do both some indoor and outdoor activities during this contest.
